The Altuzarra Spring 2027 collection landed in the lobby of the Woolworth Building in New York, and if that venue sounds a touch theatrical, the clothes were apparently ready for it. Vogue’s season review, published on 17 September 2026, called it ‘an exuberant, confident show.’ That is not the usual hedged language of a polite runway write-up.
Joseph Altuzarra sent out 47 womenswear looks, according to runway data from T-Fashion. The palette was tight and deliberate: black dominated at 47% of looks, white followed at 43%, with rose providing the only real warmth at 13%. Not exactly a spring riot of colour, but the restraint reads as a choice rather than a failure of nerve.
What the Altuzarra Spring 2027 Collection Actually Looked Like
Roughly 45% of the looks leaned into Avant-Garde styling, with midi skirts appearing across 40% of the collection and satin used in 34% of looks. That is a lot of satin for a designer whose reputation sits closer to intelligent tailoring than high-gloss eveningwear, which suggests the season was pushing somewhere slightly new.
Fashionista’s review described the season as a ‘vibe shift’ that plays with gender codes. WWD, reviewing on 13 September 2026, titled its piece ‘Altuzarra Spring 2027: The Joys of Self-expression’ and flagged tropical wool ripped open to reveal embroidery alongside sheer crystal-edged knit cocktail dresses. That combination of tailoring aggression and delicacy is the Altuzarra house signature, but apparently amplified here.
The collection generated 13 press articles in total, with full show reviews from both WWD and Vogue. That is a reasonable press footprint, if not a tsunami. The Woolworth Building venue likely helped: a 1913 neo-Gothic lobby is a more arresting backdrop than the average white-box showroom.
A Brand in Active Expansion, Both in Product and Geography
The show comes at a moment when Altuzarra the company is moving on several fronts at once. Joseph Altuzarra took the CEO role of his namesake brand effective 1 January 2025, adding it to his existing titles as founder and creative director. He succeeded Shira Sue Carmi, who stepped down after nearly five years and moved to the company’s board. Then, in April 2026, Marta Lastra, who had joined Altuzarra in 2020 and most recently served as COO, was appointed CEO, expanding her brief to cover distribution and marketing alongside product and operations. Lastra previously held roles at Loewe, The Row, and Ralph Lauren.
On the retail side, a second U.S. location opened at River Oaks District in Houston on 16 December 2025, followed by a pop-up in Dallas in April 2026. The brand already distributes through more than 100 retailers worldwide. Kering took a minority stake in the company back in September 2013, which provided early infrastructure muscle; the brand has been doing its own thing in New York since Joseph Altuzarra founded it in 2008, drawing on his French, American, and Chinese heritage.
The collaborations front is also busy. Victoria’s Secret (NYSE: VSCO) launched what it described as its first-ever designer collaboration, ‘Atelier Victoria’s Secret x Altuzarra,’ marking the lingerie giant’s move into ready-to-wear. The campaign was styled by Emmanuelle Alt and shot by Lachlan Bailey, with models including Imaan Hammam and Devyn Garcia. For a brand that has spent years repositioning itself, anchoring the collaboration to Altuzarra is a credibility play rather than a pure commercial one.
Whether the SS27 show shifts the conversation or merely reinforces the existing Altuzarra faithful is the question the press season will answer. The venue and the gender-code experimentation suggest the house is interested in a larger audience. The next indicator will be how the wholesale orders land.
