Spotify has announced the creation of a new section in the app for iOS and Android that will notify us at the exact moment when new content from our favorite creators is published.
Keeping up to date can be difficult, especially when following hundreds of artists and podcast creators; And most people who use Spotify resign themselves to relying on the algorithm to show them new songs in playlists.
The new button that will appear at the top of the app, in the shape of a bell, aims to solve this. It is a notification system, which will be activated as soon as a new song, album or podcast episode of creators that we are following on Spotify is published.
As soon as that happens, the icon will show a blue dot, indicating that we can open it to see what’s “new”; the new section is called “What’s New”, and according to Spotify’s announcement, it will allow us to find out about new releases instantly.
Keep in mind that Spotify already offers several methods to find out about new releases and podcast episodes. For example, we have a news playlist; however, it is only updated once a week. The great novelty of this function is that it is updated in real time , so we will find out the same second in which a new disc is available.

However, where this novelty will really be useful will be when it comes to following our favorite podcasts , and Spotify itself knows it; In the last year, it has strengthened its app as a player and discoverer of podcasts, and most of the news released lately focus on this aspect. However, it still remained to solve a problem as simple as knowing when a new episode has come out, to download it and listen to it, and this solves it.
This novelty will reach all iOS and Android users over the next few weeks.
