“At the end of this year the term of a deputy governor is concluded and he will be replaced by Galia Borja Gómez , (who) is currently the treasurer of the Federation, ” he said at the morning conference. In turn, Borja will be replaced in her current position by Elvira Concheiro , a researcher on social issues.
In the same round of adjustments, the president of Mexico proposed to the upper house Graciela Márquez Colín to join the Governing Board of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi ); his place in the Ministry of Economy, said the president, will be occupied by Tatiana Clouthier Carrillo, a deputy for Morena and who was the coordinator of his campaign for the Presidency in 2018.

Borja, capable
In the opinion of Eduardo Osuna, general director of Grupo Financiero BBVA México , Galia Borja “seems to me that it is an appointment that points in the right direction of the autonomy of Banco de México and above all of having academically trained people who understand the challenges that exist. there”.
For his part, Luis Niño, president of the Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM), assured that the appointment is very positive, since he is “very professional … he has been in the Treasury of the Federation for a long time and has served as treasurer very good, ”he added.
Alberto Ramos, chief economist at Goldman Sachs for Latin America, explained that “when Ms. Borja arrives, Banco de México’s Governing Board will face the challenge of properly calibrating monetary policy and when to resume the relaxation cycle given the state weak economy, severe credit crunch and weak support for fiscal policy, “he said.
Carlos Serrano, chief economist at BBVA Mexico, approved Borja’s appointment and recalled that “it is not the first time that a head of the treasury has come to govern the bank, we already saw it with Irene Espinosa .”
Gabriela Siller, director of economic and financial analysis at Banco Base, commented that Borja has the credentials to occupy the position, “the market took it well… what is really important is that the Governing Board continues working as always, as a team and as a autonomously ”, he asserted.
