VitrA Tiles Advances Towards a Greener Future with Solar Energy

VitrA Tiles has successfully brought its Aksaray solar power plant into full operation, reinforcing its sustainability commitments.

As a leading company within the Eczacıbaşı Group, VitrA Tiles is taking significant steps in expanding its renewable energy capacity. The completion of the Aksaray Solar Power Plant (SPP) follows the launch of a 3.5 MW rooftop solar plant in Bozüyük in 2023. With a 30 MWe/36 MWp capacity, this latest project represents a major milestone in the company’s transition towards green energy. As a result of this investment, over half of the electricity used in Türkiye operations this year will come from sustainable sources.

Shaping the Future with Renewable Energy

The Aksaray plant will generate sufficient electricity to meet the needs of approximately 19,700 households annually. It features 65,520 PV modules, each with a 550 Wp capacity, and is projected to cut carbon emissions by 37,190 tonnes per year.

VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu reaffirmed the company’s dedication to sustainability, stating: “We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”

Installation work on the Aksaray SPP commenced in April 2024, with electricity production beginning in February 2025 following the successful setup of PV modules, inverters, transformers, cabling, and power transmission lines. This development not only offers environmental and economic advantages but also paves the way for further innovation in the sector.
