South London’s rising R&B star Rai-Elle is set to release her highly anticipated new single at the end of the month, marking a significant chapter in her career.
The 23-year-old artist has become known for her ability to merge classic soulful vocals with modern production. Her new release promises to bring an innovative sound to fans across the UK and beyond.
Rai-Elle first rose to prominence in 2017 as the youngest contestant to perform in The X Factor live shows. Her heartfelt performances earned her widespread acclaim, with Simon Cowell calling her “a powerhouse” as she advanced to the quarter-finals.
Despite her early success, the pressures of fame and industry demands led her to step away from the spotlight. “The pressure was immense. You’re thrown into this whirlwind, and when the cameras stop, it’s just you,” she shares. Using this time to reflect, Rai-Elle redefined her identity as an artist and found a renewed sense of direction.
After a three-year break, Rai-Elle has re-emerged with a fresh sound that fuses her gospel upbringing with the energy of modern R&B. “I had to remind myself of my gift. Seeing people moved to tears during a performance reignited my passion. My voice has the power to connect, and I can’t sit on that,” she explains.
Her career highlights include over 10 million streams of her hit KSB and a co-sign from Stormzy. Since parting ways with Marathon Records — where her music featured in the US show The Bold Type — she has embraced independence, steadily growing her fanbase. Her last single, Stone Cold, tackled themes of vulnerability and resilience, laying the groundwork for her latest release.
The new single, described by Rai-Elle as “the new R&B,” blends soulful melodies with cutting-edge beats. “This track is about the excitement and uncertainty of meeting someone new,” she explains. It also offers a glimpse into her forthcoming EP, which delves into the experiences of Gen Z.
As the UK R&B scene experiences a revival, Rai-Elle is proud to be part of the movement. “There’s a movement happening right now,” she says. “R&B is being championed like never before, and it’s an exciting time to be part of it.”
The single will be available on all major streaming platforms at the end of the month.
