According to the figures of the Executive Secretariat of the National Security System , in the state of Jalisco robberies fell 33 percent and the total incidence was reduced 20 percent compared to 2019.
The governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez , stressed that at the end of the year there are the most difficult months in which, due to commercial activity and the transit of people, crimes increase every year, “that is why we made a special strategy for November , December and January, seeking to bring down the crime rate “.
He highlighted the results of this strategy in the middle of such a difficult and complicated year. From January to November 2020, Jalisco presented a reduction of 20.3 percent in the total crime incidence compared to the same period of 2019, and of 22.9 percent less compared to 2018; This decrease includes patrimonial crimes and intentional homicide.
He highlighted the results in the crimes of special monitoring, “these are the crimes that the state government has assumed as the main challenge to address, because they are the ones that most affect people, the crimes that we have called special monitoring, where the robberies of people, shops, houses and vehicles ”.
He pointed out that the reduction compared to November 2018 is 46.8 percent, “almost half of the crimes that were committed two years ago in the month of November, and 24.9 percent less than the crimes of November last year” .
According to figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Security System, in the decrease in incidence between January and November, the theft of a private vehicle stands out with 9,251 cases this year, 38.9 percent less than in 2019, which registered 15,142. robberies, or 49.1 percent less than in 2018, which reached 18,190 cases, a reduction of practically 50 percent.
Another of the items that stands out most is that of victims of intentional homicide, which, during November 2020, presented a reduction of 12.6 percent compared to the previous month and in the accumulated January to November, it maintained a downward trend with 2.0 percent less than the same period of 2019.
“We cannot slow down, but this is the best sign that we are on the right path, that the right decisions are being made, that we have not slowed down in terms of security,” said the governor. “We know that it is still the biggest challenge that Jalisco has today, but for this reason we can also be optimistic that the strategy that has been defined is giving results.”
He pointed out that the police corporations are increasingly committed, “at the security table there is full coordination with the Army, the National Guard and the Navy, we are all working with the same purpose and that is reflected in the results that we present today” .
This is how the government of Jalisco reaffirms its commitment to address the security agenda as a priority; We know that the road ahead is still long, however, the sustained trend confirms as positive the strategy implemented in coordination with authorities from the three levels of government.
